I clean therefore I am

My name is Alixkid I am a messaholic. It has been 24hrs since my last mess. I would like to thank the support of my husband and slow work day at the office for allowing me to find a clean working and living environment for myself and my family.
And it is not even spring yet.
There are days when I become too messy even for myself. Those days I am supported by my husband's mild criticism of "but I haven't been able to get to the chest of draws for weeks" or "where have all the towels gone, oh I see you have a collection"
Today is the first day of my new life. Until I get Busy, or start a new Project, or until the dinner party on Friday.

The circus is in town

The other night we saw Alegria at the Royal Albert Hall. I booked the tickets months ago. I was quite keen to see it as I saw one of the other shows a few years ago and was quite amazed.
The Show, as expected, was fantastic, with incredible costumes, music and feats of acrobatics. It reminds me seeing the Shanghi acrobats in Shanghi, which had similar amazing acrobatics, and bendy people. The difference however is the polished surrealness of costumes and presentation. That sense of bizare with artiness which comes from the French influence.

Having a ball

Fun was had by all in a most extravagent night on the town. The New Zealand Society of London had it's annual ball at the Dorchester. This was my first trip to the Dorchester, and I found it to be tastefully and extravagently decorated, with chandelers and dark mirrors. There were 5 Courses, many glasses, exotic dancers, long speaches, a parade of chefs, dancing and Dave got to chat to the Ambassador. We also behaved a little badly, and had rooms at the Hilton for the night.

Dave surprised me with a new necklace as well, I feel a little spoilt.

What is this working thing about anyhow?

As I approach 5 months in bonny England, I start to ask myself. What is this working thing about anyhow?
People who know me, know that I am a mild workaholic with unfounded enthusiasm for making stuff happen. Or as Winston would put it "Lets put on a Show".
As I draw to, what should have been the end, of a glorious deployment. I understand that when the techie says, "I just have to plug it in and change the IP,register the name and it's done, I could have done it yesterday".. He is lying, Mistaken, and optimistic to the point of incomprehension.
I have to ask, why am I doing this. Am I being paid enough for this shit. It is -1 degrees outside and my fingers freeze (yes I should wear my gloves, but it's only a 5 minute walk). And while waiting for the train and read the advertisements on the tube station walls. There is a picture of a palm tree and I think of home. If so many people think paradise is warm weather, beaches, and a relaxed life style, then why is this city so full.
Is there a plot to keep the people working, so they never get quite enough money. Am I any better off than someone who doesn't work. I envy those those of you who manage with the alternative lifestyles. I know being a wage slave is bollocks. But one person cannot build and empire.
